We had 12 participants in the event:
Cross table: http://www.uschess.org/msa/XtblMain.php?200909202781
Highlights: What's new? Bigger trophies, better snacks (apples & bananas), and exercises!
- TROPHY WINNERS (top 5): Special thanks to the Peterson Family for making the nice-looking trophies!
- Gerardo Bruno won the BIG first-place trophy for the sixth time with 4.5/6.0! And he passed another barrier and made it to 1312... Keep it up Gerardo!
- Bennett Koh overcame his tough tournament last time and made a BIG turnaround by this time by tying for first place with 4.5 points; while gaining 262 rating points (744-1006)!
- Max Cheng had a tough day this time; but, despite having 2 losses, he still had the best tie break of the players with 3.0 points.
- Andrew Santoso had a FANTSTIC day! His 3 wins and 2 losses (to the leaders), was good for gaining 226 rating points (717-943).
- Dante and Mick Peterson also tied for 5th and 6th. But, their father, Richard, graciously donated Dante's trophy to the next player in line.
- And that made Nanak Khalsa VERY happy; as this was the first time he ever won a chess trophy!
MEDAL WINNERS (top 3):
- Gia Peterson won her first chess Medal from us! She also made 7 rating points.
- Tigran Avetisyan won his second ever medal.
DISNEY-PRIZE WINNERS
- Alan Salazr and Brian Guzman, also appeared in their first tournament at the LACC.
My philosophy:
If any youngster has the courage to compete in tournaments with others, he/she is a champion to us. And, therefore, deserves a prize! That's why I would like to offer a prize to each participant in this tournament!
Best regards,
Mick
